REGIONAL MANAGER - CANADA

Role Description Territory: All Canada, Michigan, Upstate New York, and Western Pennsylvania (approximately 1/6 of the North American machine tool marketplace) Responsibilities: ATS’s regional managers continually strive to grow market share and esteem for the Company’s premium products and services. Major focus is with the Territory’s new machine tool dealers, the primary sellers of the Company’s products. Vital activities include conducting training classes, making joint end-user sales calls, and visiting end-users on behalf of the machine sellers. The regional manager will act as the manager for any project that requires multi-resource coordination to insure a fully satisfied customer. For our machine tool dealers, the Company’s products are typically a small part of a bigger project. Helping them to know us, trust us, and expect a painless transaction from us is the key to winning in the Territory.

Support Resources: The regional manager works as part of a three-person support team. A full-time service technician, with excellent capabilities and skills, is dedicated to the territory and provides all new installation work and installed-base support. An inside sales engineer, having good relationships with the territory customer base, is shared with an adjacent territory. The inside sales engineer is a stationary target for dealer technical questions, requests for proposals, and other inquiries. The regional manager coordinates the efforts of all three team members for maximum effect.

Travel / Use of Time: An office day once per week or once every two weeks is typically required for phone work and self-organization. Most remaining days are for field-work. Approximately 1/3 of the time for a Toronto-area based regional manager will be spent in Toronto and surrounding areas, 1/3 within driving-distance cities such as Montreal, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse, and 1/3 in away regions such as Edmonton.

Advancement and Skill Development: ATS Systems’ current president and sales manager are former regional managers. Pursuing opportunities outside the firm, other ATS regional managers have later succeeded in a variety of executive positions at prestigious machine tool builders and dealers. Most will testify that they learned much of what they currently practice in this role.
